about me

I come from Porto, where I have studied and lived for a long time. For me, there is something special about this city.
I have always been fascinated by the diverse ways in which people progress and prosper, and how different influences (cultural, educational, social, familial) interact and contribute to their growth, which is why I decided to study psychology.
I began working as a psychologist in a clinical setting in 1997, intervening with children and adolescents, and occasionally adults (mainly mothers, sometimes fathers and grandparents). This took place in a rural context, in coordinated work with schools, health centers, social workers and other institutions with a relevant role in the lives of the families whose children were being treated. It was a context-focused work, promoting skills in all those involved, and improving the practices addressing the difficulties experienced by the children. I also had the role of coordinating multidisciplinary teams (with therapists and doctors) different for each case. Later, I collaborated with other multidisciplinary clinics, with a more person-centered approach, where I had the opportunity to start working systematically with adults.
For 7 years, I collaborated with the Psychological Consultation Service of FPCEUP, as a Clinical Psychologist and trainer of Master students in Clinical Assessment and Psychology.
Over the years, I have received training in various topics relevant for clinical practice, including Introduction to Family Therapy (Portuguese Society of Family Therapy), Emotion-Focused Therapy (with Leslie Greenberg), Attachment (Isabel Soares), and Communication in the Helping Relationship (Marina Serra de Lemos).
I enjoyed maintaining a connection with the academic context through collaboration on research projects at the University of Minho, ISMAI, and the University of Porto. These collaborations allowed me to deepen my knowledge in areas such as Attachment, Identity and Self, and Narratives.
I received supervision from specialists in the clinical work (Isabel Soares, Marina de Serra Lemos, Miguel Gonçalves and Margarida Henriques).
After 20 years of experience in the clinical field, I reaffirm my commitment to supporting people in their pursuit of well-being, and I feel privileged to play this role of providing individual support in order to build a healthy and thriving society.

At the beginning of 2018 I moved to Berlin, and living and working in a context where diverse histories and cultures intertwine makes me feel at home.
I am recognized by the Portuguese Order of Psychologists as
Psychologist specialized in Clinical and Health Psychology, with
Advanced specialization in Psychotherapy (member no. 1360).
academic background
2017
Master of Science Degree in Clinical and Health Psychology
FPCEUP - University of Porto
In the context of my collaboration at Porto's University, within the team of psychologists led by Margarida Henriques, I took the opportunity to deepen my knowledge in the area of Narrative Therapy and develop research work that culminated in my Master's thesis.
2009
Postgraduate degree in Transpersonal Psychotherapy
Lusófona University of Porto
This course allowed me to explore dimensions of psychological intervention that, at the time, received less attention from the academic community, namely meditation, hypnosis, and the spiritual dimension of the person understood in their entirety.
2003
Postgraduate degree in Clinical Psychology
University of Minho
Coordinated by Óscar Gonçalves, the course featured the collaboration of some of the best professors in the clinical field, such as Isabel Soares, Miguel Gonçalves, and Paulo Machado, and allowed for in-depth exploration of aspects of diagnosis, pharmacotherapy, systematic treatment selection, and ethical considerations in psychological intervention.
1997
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, specializing in Development.
FPCEUP - University of Porto
I began my journey in psychology a 5 years long in-depth training in the theoretical aspects, research, and methodologies of psychology, which prepared me to learn autonomously while maintaining the necessary critical sense throughout my career. The specialization in the area of development brought me a greater attention to the context and adaptive function of behavior, from a non pathologizing perspective of the person.
